Swamp Road
Police report a one-car accident on Swamp Road in Botsford about 5:15 pm February 6.
Motorist Randall R. Dieckman, 37, of 3 Kaechele Drive, Sandy Hook, was driving a 1993 Ford Escort coupe eastbound when he lost control of the auto on a slushy road surface, crossed the road, and then struck a snowbank and a tree, police said.
Dieckman was uninjured, according to police. Police verbally warned him for making an improper turn.
Route 34 Collision
Motorist Michael L. Daniels, 16, of 23 Bennetts Bridge Road, Sandy Hook, started to cross Route 34 from Bennetts Bridge Road toward Grayâs Plain Road about 5:52 pm February 3, when he struck a 1995 Subaru Impreza being driven westbound on Route 34 by motorist Arnold Pearlman, 60, of Mountain Laurel Lane, Sandy Hook, police said.
The Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company went to the accident scene, as did the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Both drivers received treatment for injuries and were released at the scene, police said.
Police issued Daniels a written warning for failure to grant the right of way at a stop sign.
Church Hill Crash
Motorist Ashley A. Demanche, 18, of Clinton, was driving a 1998 Toyota Camry westbound on Church Hill Road and turning left to enter the Blue Colony Diner parking lot at about 3 pm February 7, when the Toyota was struck by an eastbound 1987 Honda Civic driven by Regina Knopf, 51, of Waterbury, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Demanche a written warning for making a restricted turn.
Key Rock MVA
Police report motorist Helen Gottschalk, 83, of 6 Key Rock, was driving a 1984 Plymouth Horizon northbound on Key Rock Road and stopped at the stop sign at that roadâs intersection with Route 302 about 3 pm February 8.
Ms Gottschalk then moved forward to see around a snowbank and stopped, because autos were approaching, police said.
Motorist Alexander Angal, 22, of Waterbury, who was driving a 1994 Dodge van which had been stopped behind the Plymouth, then struck the Plymouth from behind, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Angal a written warning for following too closely.
I-84 DUI
State police said they spotted motorist Timothy M. Powell, 26, of Naugatuck, driving erratically on eastbound Interstate-84 about 1:34 am February 9.
State police said they stopped Powell and charged him with driving under the influence and failure to drive in the established lane.
After being processed at the state police barracks, state police released Powell on a $500 non-surety bond for a February 26 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Snowplow Incident
State police report that two vehicles traveling eastbound on Interstate 84 were struck and damaged by ice and snow thrown by a westbound state Department of Transportation snowplow about 10 am February 6, as the two vehicles were traveling between Exits 8 and 9.
The snow and ice thrown by the plow caused heavy damage to the windshield of a 1995 Ford van delivery truck driven by John R. Basso, 36, of 162 Mt Pleasant Road, Hawleyville, state police said. It also damaged the windshield, bumper, and exterior mirror of a 1999 Mercedes-Benz ML-320 driven by Robert G. Fowler, 39, of Southbury, according to state police.
 State police said the driver of the DOT truck is unknown.
Moving Violations
Police report they stopped motorist Paul Marquardt, 22, of Southbury for a moving violation on The Boulevard about 7:30 am February 14.
Police charged Marquardt with traveling too fast, operating a motor vehicle while under suspension, and misuse of marker plates.
Police released Marquardt on a written promise to appear March 6 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.
SUV Vs Deer
Police report motorist Jeffrey R. Ferrier, 25, of Earlton, N.Y., was driving a 1996 Chevrolet Blazer eastbound on Berkshire Road near 267 Berkshire Road about 10:15 pm February 9, when a deer entered the road.
The Blazer collided with the deer, damaging the vehicle, police said. Ferrier was uninjured. The deer was not found, police said.
Two-Vehicle Crash
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 34 and Toddy Hill Road in Sandy Hook on February 13.
While he was stopped at a red traffic signal, motorist Richard J. Engelke, 44, of 9 Grayâs Plain Road, Sandy Hook, who was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer, was struck from behind by Nadeem Sayyed, 19, of Yonkers, N.Y., who was driving a 1999 Ford, police said. There were no injuries.
Police issued Sayyed an infraction ticket on a charge of failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Two Charges
Police said they charged motorist Carrie N. Medici, 23, of Waterbury on February 13 with speeding and operating a motor vehicle while under suspension. Medici is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court March 1 to answer the charges.
Motor Vehicle Stop
Police report they charged Travis T. Fardy, 24, of Stratford on February 13 with speeding and operating a motor vehicle while under suspension. Police released Fardy on a $250 bond for a February 23 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
