James W. Burns

Longtime Electrician For Fairfield Hills Hospital

James W. Burns, 89, of Newtown, died December 4, at Danbury Hospital, after a brief illness. He was born in Middletown, N.Y., January 5, 1922, the son of Mildred and Edward Burns. Mr Burns was predeceased by his loving wife, Dorothy, of 52 years.

He grew up in Danbury. After graduating from Henry Abbott Technical School, Mr Burns joined the US Army and served in World War II. Upon his return from the service, he moved to Newtown and worked at Fairfield Hills Hospital as an electrician, where he was employed for more than 30 years. After retiring from the hospital, he worked at Eaton Corporation in Danbury for ten years.

Mr Burns built his own home in Newtown, where he resided for more than 60 years.

He will be missed by his children and their spouses, Douglas and Carol Burns of Ocean Springs, Miss., Nadine Burns of Southbury, Stephen and Paula Burns of New Canaan, and Tami and Michael Crain of Scottsdale, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three siblings, Mary Casazza, Anita Samaha, and Andrew Burns; and several nieces and nephews. Four siblings, Edward, Paul, Barbara, and Margaret, predeceased Mr Burns.

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are in care of the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
