Supermarket
Police said that a store detective at the Stop & Shop supermarket at Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street spotted Christine Maki, 42, of Monroe exiting the store at about 10:36 am on January 26 with approximately $200 worth of groceries without having paid for them, so the store detective stopped Maki.
Police said they went to the store to investigate the incident and then charged Maki with sixth-degree larceny. After processing, police said they released Maki on $200 bail for a February 1 appearance atDanbury Superior Court.
Glen Road
A one-vehicle accident occurred about 5 pm on January 26 on Glen Road, near Cherry Street.
Police said motorist Barbara Capozziello, 70, of 12 Pilgrim Lane was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo coupe southward on Glen Road, when the vehicle went off the right side of the street and struck a utility pole.
Capozziello was not injured. Police said they verbally warned her for traveling too fast for conditions.
Audi Vs Pole
A one-vehicle accident occurred on Mt Pleasant Road, near its intersection with Reservoir Road, at about 6:04 pm on January 26.
Police said motorist Joseph Anesi, 52, of 13 Ashford Lane, who was driving a 2007 Audi A-4 sedan, was traveling southward on Mt Pleasant Road, when the vehicle went off the right side of the street and struck a utility pole. Anesi received an injury, police said.
The impact caused the utility pole to split, requiring a utility crew to respond to the scene, police said. The roadway was closed to traffic for approximately 90 minutes, police said.
Police said they issued Anesi an infraction for making a restricted turn.
DUI Arrest
Police report that they stopped motorist Jairo Batista, 27, of Danbury for failing to stop at a stop sign near 145 Hattertown Road at about 7:07 pm January 25.
Police said they brought in their German shepherd to aid in their investigation.
Batista was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana, and failure to obey a stop sign, police report. After processing, police released him on $1,000 bail for a February 8 court appearance.

Warrant
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Christopher Iglesia, 18, of Bethel turned himself over to police at the police station on the morning of January 30 and was charged with violation of probation, police said.
Police said that the arrest stems from a January 6 incident. Iglesia was held on $10,000 bail for an arraignment on the charge later that day in Danbury Superior Court, police said.
Driveway
At about 11:08 am on January 25, motorist Mary OâConnor, 65, of Danbury, who was driving a 2001 Kia Sephia sedan westward on the long driveway at Masonicare of Newtown at 139 Toddy Hill Road, lost control of the vehicle and it swerved off the driveway, striking a road sign and then traveling over a rock, police said.
OâConnor was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Snowy Road
Motorist Georgia Ying, 25, of West Haven was driving a 2010 Mazda 3 sedan westward on Berkshire Road, near its intersection with Sherman Street, when the vehicle went out of control, slid across the centerlines of the snowy road and then entered a the eastbound lane at about 5:49 am on January 21, police said.
The Mazda then struck some guardrailing along the eastbound road shoulder, police said. Police said Ying told them that she lost control of the vehicle due to snow on the road.
Ying was not injured. Police said they verbally warned her for traveling too fast for conditions.
Oakview Road
Police report a two-vehicle accident about 4:13 pm on January 23 on the section of Oakview Road near its intersection with Wasserman Way.
Police said motorist Kevin Fitzgerald, 52, of Southbury was driving a 2002 SE Ford van northward on Oakview Road, as motorist Sharon Ivan, 51, of 5 Oakview Road was driving a 2010 Hyundai Sonata sedan southward there.
The Hyundai then slowed for northbound traffic and the two vehicles attempted to pass by one another, but due to a lane-width restriction on the road, both vehiclesâ driver-side exterior rear-view mirrors struck one another, police said.
There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.
Two I-84 Accidents
State police report two separate accidents on the night of January 24 on eastbound Interstate 84, about 1,000 feet east of the Exit 9 interchange, which occurred after two vehicles struck some wood that had fallen onto the roadway from another vehicle.
State police said that motorist Marisa Kempf, 23, of 18 Bentagrass Lane was driving a 2007 Honda Civic in the center lane of three lanes at about 7:37 pm, when the Honda struck a piece of wood that was lying on the road. The impact caused no visible damage to the Honda, state police said. There were no injuries.
About 13 minutes later, at 7:50 pm, motorist Jeffrey Tate, 34, of Southbury was driving a 2008 Honda Civic in the center lane when that Honda struck a piece of wood lying on the road, state police said. That impact caused that Honda to get two flat tires. There were no injuries.
There was no enforcement in either accident because the wood had fallen onto the road from an unknown vehicle, state police said.
I-84 Collision
Motorist Marghan Miller, 48, of Woodbury was driving a 2007 Nissan Murano SUV westward on Interstate 84, about 1½ miles west of Exit 10 at about 7:32 am on January 23, when she lost control of the vehicle and struck some guardcabling, state police said.
Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps members transported her to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, state police said. Enforcement information was not available.
Incident
Police said they arrested two men early on the morning of January 31 following a physical fight at 10 Old Castle Drive.
Following an investigation, police said they charged Mario DeVivo, 21, of 10 Old Castle Drive with breach of peace and with strangulation.
Police added that they charged Maxwell Muraskiewicz, 20, of 70 Brushy Hill Road with disorderly conduct and with criminal trespassing.
Police said both men were released on written promises to appear in court on February 14.
Two Violations
Police report that they stopped motorist Bryan Newson, 29, of Bridgeport for a motor vehicle violation on South Main Street, near Borough Lane, at about 9 pm on January 29.
Police said they charged Newson with driving with a suspended vehicle registration and with driving without a license.
Police said they released Newson on $500 bail for a February 9 court appearance.
Registration
At about 10:12 am on January 28, police stopped motorist Mark Schachter, 53, of Hamden, who was driving a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria southward near 54 South Main Street.
After investigating, police said they charged Schachter with driving with a suspended vehicle registration. Schachter is scheduled to appear in court on February 7, according to police.
Cellphone
Police report that they saw motorist Ernandes DaSilva, 38, of Danbury talking on a handheld cellphone while driving northward on Hawleyville Road at about 1:46 pm on January 30, so they stopped the vehicle to investigate.
Police said they charged DaSilva with illegal use of a handheld cellphone while driving and with driving with a suspended license.
DaSilva was released on a written promise to appear in Danbury Superior Court on February 9, police said.
Rear-Ender
Motorist Amanda Jones, 42, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2001 Volkswagen Passat sedan northward on South Main Street, stopped at a red traffic signal at South Main Streetâs intersection with Button Shop Road about 7:48 am on January 31, police said.
Motorist Stephen Marks, 23, of 3 Sweet Meadow Road, who was driving a 1999 Chevrolet K-15 station wagon northward, stopped behind the Volkswagen, police said.
Marks then thought that the traffic signal had changed to green and drove the Chevrolet forward, striking the rear end of the Volkswagen, police said. The signal had not changed to green, police said.
 There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Marks for making an unsafe start.
Nissan Vs Dog
At about 1:10 pm on January 29, motorist Robert Freas, 81, of Brewster, N.Y., who was driving a 2009 Nissan Versa southward near 57 Mt Pleasant Road, encountered a dog that had entered the road in front of the approaching Nissan, police said.
The Nissan and the dog collided, after which the dog ran off, police said. The dog was not found. Its owner was not found. Freas was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Swamp Road
Motorist Ronald Simonelli, 22, of Northford, who was driving a 2008 Toyota Yaris northward, struck a large pothole near 36 Swamp Road at about 10:30 pm on January 27, police said. The incident damaged the vehicleâs right-front and right-rear tires, police said.
Simonelli was not injured. Police took no enforcement. Police said they called the townâs road crew to make street repairs.
Two Warrants
Police report they arrested a local man on two warrants at about 9:49 am on January 31 at a business at 153 Sugar Street.
Police said they charged John Sikorski, 40, of 12 Park Lane in connection with two separate incidents that occurred in 2010.
On one warrant, police charged Sikorski with second-degree failure to appear in court, evading responsibility, failure to grant the right of way, improper use of a marker plate, and failure to have automotive insurance, police said.
On the other warrant, police charged Sikorski with second-degree failure to appear in court and driving with a suspended license.
Following processing, police released Sikorski on $2,000 bail for a February 14 court appearance.
South Main Street
Police said they stopped motorist John Rizzo, 38, of 124 Huntingtown Road about 12:33 pm on January 31 on South Main Street near Sand Hill Plaza because the 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck that he was driving had a broken windshield.
Following an investigation, police charged Rizzo with driving with a suspended vehicle registration and with failure to carry a driverâs license.
Rizzo is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on February 14 to answer the charges, according to police.
