Taunton Hill DUI

Police report they stopped motorist Mario Alberghini, 41, of 155 Boggs Hill Road for not obeying a stop sign at the intersection of Taunton Hill Road and Great Hill Road about 6 pm December 14.

Police said they stopped the vehicle, investigated, and charged Alberghini with driving under the influence and failure to obey a stop sign.

After processing at the police station, police released Alberghini on a promise to appear January 2 in Danbury Superior Court.

Truck Hits Car

State police report that motorist Carol A. O’Neill, 35, of North Quincy, Mass., was driving a 1995 Honda coupe westbound in the center lane of three lanes on Interstate 84, east of Exit 11, about 4:15 pm December 16, when tractor-trailer truck driver Thomas Jurban, 48, of Dunnellon, Fla., who was traveling westbound in the left lane, attempted to enter the center lane and struck the Honda.

There were no injuries. State police said they charged Jurban with making an unsafe lane change.

Audi Into Rails

State police said motorist Patrick Ciccarelli, 21, of Southbury was driving a 1985 Audi sedan eastbound on Interstate 84 about 9:40 pm December 15 when he drove onto the “rumble strip” on the left road shoulder, panicked, oversteered the Audi to the right, lost control of the auto, and skidded across the highway, hitting guardrailing along the right road shoulder. There were no injuries.

Rumble strips are a series of gouges placed in the road’s shoulders which are intended to warn motorists with a rumbling sound caused by tire vibration when they are drifting out of the travel lanes of the highway.

Two Youths Charged

Police said they charged two youths December 17 each with sixth-degree larceny in connection with the alleged theft of two bicycles.

Police said Michael McIntosh, 16, of Bridgeport, and a 15-year-old boy from Wethersfield allegedly stole two bicycles from a Berkshire Road residence. Police said they found the youths in possession of the bicycles on Toddy Hill Road.

Police did not identify the 15-year-old boy because he is a juvenile and his identity is protected from disclosure under state law.

Police released both boys from custody. McIntosh is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court January 2. The other boy is slated to be in Danbury Juvenile Court January 3.

 

Riverside DUI

Police said that while on patrol about 8 pm December 19, they received a report that a motorist was driving erratically.

Police said that on locating the vehicle on Riverside Road in Sandy Hook, they saw that the vehicle’s right front tire was shredded and it was riding on a rim.

Police said they stopped the auto, investigated, and charged motorist Don Trudeau, 34, of 88 Riverside Road with driving under the influence and failure to drive to the right. After processing the case, police released Trudeau for a January 4 appearance in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.

 

Warrant Served

Police said they served an arrest warrant against Frank A. Shovanec, 29, of 43-B Botsford Hill Road on December 19, listing charges of third-degree burglary and attempted sixth-degree larceny in connection with an October 16 incident.

After learning of the warrant, Shovanec had turned himself into police.

Police released Shovanec on bond for a January 4 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

  Narcotics Charges

Police report they charged Diane Sledjeski, 47, of Waterbury on a warrant December 20, lodging two counts of possession of narcotics. Sledjeski was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges. Additional details were not available.

Car Vs Bus

Police report an accident between a small HART bus, without passengers, and an automobile on Route 34 near the Sandy Hook fire substation about 10 am December 20.

Police said motorist Teresa L. Pedicone, 36, of Oxford, was driving a 1993 Mercury Sable which went into a skid and collided with an oncoming 12-passenger HART bus driven by Denise B. Vallee, 19, of Danbury.

Ms Pedicone was transported to Danbury Hospital where she was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said. Police issued Ms Pedicone a written warning for failure to drive to the right on a curve.
