James Edward McKenzie

A Joyous Spirit

James Edward McKenzie, 51, died suddenly in his home in Honolulu, Hawaii, August 8. Born in New Milford on March 13, 1959, he was the beloved son of Rosemarie and Edward McKenzie of Danbury.

He will be sadly missed by his parents; his five siblings, including Doug McKenzie, and his wife Carol, of Newtown; as well as his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mr McKenzie was employed for many years by Chuck’s Steak House in Danbury and continued to work for them when he moved to Hawaii. Most recently, he was a supervisor for the US Post Office in Honolulu.

He loved to travel and enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life. He touched the lives of all those he knew with his warm smile, jovial spirit, and contagious laugh. His love for the New York Yankees was surpassed only by the love he had for his family and friends.

A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held at St Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Road, Danbury, Monday, August 16, at 11 am. There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Mr McKenzie’s honor be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford CT 06492 or americanheart.org.
