9/11 Memorial Ceremony Planned In Sandy Hook
The public is invited to attend a special ceremony on the tenth anniversary of 9/11 being hosted by Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company.
It will take place on Sunday, September 11, at 8:30 am. Kevin Cragin, the chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners, will serve as the eventâs emcee. Guest speakers will include Sandy Hook Fire & Rescue Chief Bill Halstead, First Selectman Patricia Llodra, State Representative Christopher Lyddy, Newtown Police Chief Mike Kehoe, and Monsignor Robert Weiss, pastor of St Rose of Lima Church.
Invitations have been extended to Botsford, Dodgingtown, Hawleyville, and Hook & Ladder fire companies, the members of Newtown Police Department, Emergency Communications Center, Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Newtown Underwater Search And Rescue, and Southbury Volunteer Fire Department.
The ceremony will be at the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue main station, 18-20 Riverside Road. Weather permitting, the ceremony will be held outdoors and it is expected to last approximately one hour.
