Town Players of Newtown announces auditions for Bob Barry's Murder Among Friends, to take place Sunday and Monday, February 28-29. Auditions will run from 7:30 to 9 pm each night.

In this "clever, amusing and very surprising" (New York Times) work, Palmer Forrester - a vain but aging Broadway actor - his wealthy socialite wife, and his two-faced agent are spending New Year's Eve in an elegant Grammercy Park duplex. It isn't all champagne, party hats and Dick Clark, however.

Angela Forrester and Ted Cotton are lovers, who plan to murder Palmer during a staged robbery that night, leaving them free to marry. However, Palmer and Ted are also lovers, with a duplicate plan to do in Angela. A murder does occur - but not one of the planned ones.

Murder Among Friends saw its Broadway debut in 1975, with an all-star cast that included Jack Cassidy as Palmer Forrester and Janet Leigh as Angela Forrester.

Terry Polvay of Sandy Hook will direct the Town Players production, which will be staged weekends, April 15 to May 7.

The production calls for four men and two women. If possible, actors should read the play in advance and be ready to read sides from the script.

No appointment is necessary, and all roles are available. Character breakdowns are available at NewtownPlayers.org.

Rehearsals will begin in of March.

Auditions and performances will take place at The Little Theatre, 18 Orchard Hill Road in Newtown.

All questions may be directed to info@newtownplayers.org.
