Youth AIDS Conference May 3

DANBURY — Interfaith AIDS Ministry (AIM) will hold the tenth annual Youth Reacting To AIDS (YRTA): Youth Empowerment Conference from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm on Monday, May 3, at the Ethan Allen Inn.

YRTA conference is a statewide youth-to-youth conference. Presenters at the workshops are primarily between the ages of 13 and 18 years of age. For nine years, this conference has provided a fertile ground for ideas, networking, and information exchange among all youth in Connecticut. This year’s program will feature nationally recognized AIDS educator Jennifer Jako.

Ms Jako is a young HIV-positive filmmaker whose documentary, True Life: It Could Be You, empowers HIV-positive youth who voice their confusion, grief, and hope while educating others to avoid getting infected. This powerful portrayal of young people across the United States living with HIV premiered on MTV on World AIDS Day, December 1, 1998.

Registration is $7 for youth (24 years or younger) and $12 for adults. Registration deadline is April 26 and seating is limited.

For more information and registration, contact Mio Galarza at 748-4077 or email iammiozotis@sbcglobal.net.
