State Seminar On
Import-Export Trade
HARTFORD â Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz will host an âImport-Exportâ trade seminar on Monday, July 29, from 9 am to noon, on the campus of the Hartford College for Women.
Designed for Connecticut businesses interested in taking advantage of emerging foreign markets, trade opportunities in the Caribbean and Latin America will be featured in conjunction with local celebrations of the 40th anniversary of West Indian independence.
âNew market opportunities must be explored and promoted through events such as our Import-Export seminars in order to sustain long-term economic growth in the state,â said Ms Bysiewicz. âSuccessful foreign trade includes many factors such as an understanding of diverse cultures and security requirements, along with the products and services needed in a region.â
Presentations from the US Departments of Customs, Commerce, and Agriculture as well as the Small Business Administration and event sponsor Webster Bank are scheduled. Panel discussions will also be held on topics such as foreign trade practices and using e-commerce. Participants include the Internal Revenue Service, Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE), and the World Affairs Council.
This is the third Import-Export seminar held by Ms Bysiewiczâs office, which also holds Small & Minority Business Showcase expos and conferences on procuring government contracts.
