Vendor Space Available—

Newtown Congregational Church Planning Fall Fair

Vendor space is still available for Newtown Congregational Church Fair, which will be an indoor event at the church on Saturday, September 1, from 9 am until 3 pm.

Space rental is $40. Call Marybeth Hibbard, at 364-0286, for additional information or reservations.

The fair will include vendors selling jewelry, sand art, indoor plants, photography prints, gift items, tag sale items, and a variety of boutique items provided by the church’s store, The Cornerstone.

Shop for fair trade gifts, housewares, jewelry, and more handmade items from artisans and farmers living in developing countries. The sale is hosted by the church in partnership with A Greater Gift, a nonprofit program of the 55-year-old SERRV International, which works in trade and development in 34 countries around the world. The organization partners with artisans and farmers to help them gain access to markets and maintain steady work and a sustainable income to provide for their families.

Anyone shopping at the fair will know that the proceeds from their purchases improve working conditions and provide access to education and health care for the artisans and their families. Fair trade is an international movement to build trading relationships built on respect and to alleviate poverty. The Newtown Congregational Church has provided these items for sale for many years.

The NCC Women’s Fellowship is sponsoring a bake sale to include pies, cookies, brownies, muffins and bread, some wrapped for gift giving including a variety of cookies in a jar collection and specially designed aprons.

The Men’s Fellowship will provide coffee and tea along with a variety of breakfast treats. For lunch there will be meatball grinders, hot dogs and hamburgers, and an assortment of cold drinks. There will be games for the children, a raffle, face painting, and a clown handing out balloons.

The sale will be offered inside the air-conditioned building at 14 West Street, where plenty of parking is available. NCC also requests that attendees bring a nonperishable food item for the food pantry.
