Wireless Zone Backpack Giveaway Is July 21
Newtown residents whose children need backpacks and school supplies for the coming school year have four convenient Wireless Zone locations hosting the company’s annual backpack giveaway on Sunday, July 21.
In 2018, the National Retail Federation estimated that the average parent will spend $112 dollars on school supplies, and an average total of $685 on clothing, electronics, accessories, and supplies.
Wireless Zone is working to alleviate the rising costs of school supplies through the eighth annual School Rocks Backpack Giveaway in partnership with The Cellular Connection (TCC) and Culture of Good.
On Sunday, July 21, from 1 to 4 pm, more than 1,300 Wireless Zone and TCC stores across the US are inviting local families and their children to visit participating locations to pick up a backpack filled with various school supplies, including pencils, paper, folders, a pencil box, ruler and glue.
This is expected to be the biggest year yet, with more than 235,000 backpacks expected to be delivered in 2019.
Local residents can pick up backpacks at Wireless Zone stores in Sand Hill Plaza, 228 South Main Street in Newtown; 464 Main Street (Route 25) in Monroe; Southbury Plaza, 100 Main Street North in Southbury; and in Bethel at 128 Greenwood Avenue.
