Occupation: I am a CPA (Certified Public Accountant). I have an office here in Newtown at 20 Church Hill Road. Laura, my wife, and I are 50/50 owners of J&L Movie Corner on Church Hill, Newtown’s only video store. I am also on the board of directors for Newtown Youth Services.

Family: My wife, Laura, my daughters Alicia, who is 17 and Melissa, 14. My son John is 10.

Pets: We have three cats: Mickey, Snickers, and a stray we picked up this winter, Cali. I guess it’s short for California. She’s a blonde. We have a bunny named Coco. There are fish in and fish out — fish in a 20-gallon tank in the house and fish in a pond out in the yard. It’s kind of a little zoo. We have a dog, too, Willie.

How long have you lived in Newtown? We have been here for nearly eight years.

What do you like to do in your free time? With two businesses and all the kids, it’s mostly time with the family. In the winter we ski and snowboard and in the summer we camp, ride bikes. We do a lot outdoors. And I’m the treasurer for Newtown Youth Services. We do a number of things throughout the year that I take part in: projects for the elderly, fundraisers, the dinner/dance. Just being a parent takes up time, too. Melissa is in the color guard at high school, so there’s a lot of dropping her off and picking her up.

Where is your favorite travel destination? I’m from the Gulf Coast, so we go to Florida and New Orleans. We were just there in May. New Orleans will come back; it’s a beautiful place. We went to Destin, in the panhandle of Florida. Beautiful blue waters and beaches. We like to go toward the beaches, I guess.

Do you have a favorite movie? There’s a ton of movies. I like all sorts of them. I liked Tom Cruise in Top Gun, Harrison Ford in Air Force One, the Tom Clancy movies like Patriot Games and Hunt For Red October.

Who is your favorite actor? Probably Harrison Ford. I liked the Indiana Jones series years ago; I like him in just about anything.

What is the best thing about Newtown? I think Newtown’s a very family-oriented town, which is nice. I don’t think I’d like to live here if I was single, but there are good opportunities for families and kids. If any kid wants, he can find his place in this town. We have excellent schools. You can’t beat the schools for public ones.

Do you carry anything interesting in your pockets? Well, we signed up the kids with Amber Alert. So I carry a card for each of the kids. That’s probably as exciting as it gets.

What is your philosophy? Family is real important. Everything kind of revolves around family. You have to nurture them and help them grow.

What do you most cherish? My family.
