Sunday, May 11 â The Windy Hollow Hunter Pace will be held Sunday, April 27, at the Windy Hollow Hunt Club on Spanktown Road in Florida, New York. There will be Open, Novice and Hilltopper divisions â jumping and non-jumping. Cost is $40 per person ($25 for juniors). Bring a tailgate or covered dish to share. Saturday, June 7 â The Rombout Hunt Trail Ride will be held Saturday, June 7, at Anjes Farm on Tongore Road in Stone Ridge, New York. Sunday, June 8 â The Goldenâs Bridge Hounds Hunter Pace will be held Sunday, June 8, on Baxter Road in North Salem, New York. Ride through open meadows past apple orchards, vineyards, and lovely horse farms. There will be a new, revised course with more family-friendly fences (all fences have go-arounds).Hunt, Pleasure, Junior, Family and Western divisions. A country lunch buffet will be included. Saturday, June 14 â The Old Chatham Hunt Trail Ride will be held on Saturday, June 14, at Good Hope Farm on Route 66 in Malden Bridge, New York. There will be varied cross-country fences (all have go-arounds, though) on a course of about eight miles long. There will be three divisions â Hunt Pace Over Fences, Moderate Pace Fences Optional, and Hacking Pace (western riders welcome). Cost is $30 ($15 for juniors). SATURDAY, MAY 3 â Cricker Brook Farm in Monroe will hold a Schooling Show on Saturday, May 3. Classes ranged from Leadline to Jumpers. For prize list or information, call 268-6676.
SATURDAY, MAY 10 â The Second Company Governorâs Horse Guard will hold its annual Judged Pleasure Ride on Saturday, May 10, from 9 am to 12 noon, at its grounds on the campus of Fairfield Hills. Cost is $40 per rider (which includes lunch. Call 426-9046 for further information.
SUNDAY, MAY 18 â The 4-H Spring Benefit Horse Show will be held Sunday, May 18, at the Cooperative Extension grounds on Stony Hill Road in Bethel. The popular Open Schooling show will feature divisions in English Equitation, Hunt Seat, Western and Trail. Most classes will be pinned through sixth place, with the first-place winner also receiving a trophy. Divisions will be awarded champion and reserve ribbons. Several year-end awards will once again be offered. The high point horse and rider combination from both the Spring Benefit and Fall Nutmeg shows will receive awards in the following divisions: Open Beginner Hunter and Walk/Trot (from Sunny Brook Farm in Newtown), Low Hunters (from Clearview Farms in Sandy Hook), Kentucky Hunter Classic (from All The Kingâs Horses in Ridgefield), Pleasure Horse/Pony (from Agriventures Agway in Danbury), Western Junior Walk/Jog (from Hollow Hill Farm in Bethel), and Western Adult Walk/Jog (from Happy Trails Farm in Danbury). Proof of current rabies vaccination (within one year) will be checked at the gate for each animal. Refreshments will be available on the grounds and 4-Hers will be offering âhorse-sideâ service for food and drink. Bit of Tack will also be offering horse products for sale. SATURDAY, JUNE 7 - The Greenwich Kennel Club will hold its 71st All-Breed AKC Dog Show and Obedience Trial on Saturday, June 7, at SUNY of Purchase, New York. Officials from 17 states and Canada will judge more than 2,300 dogs in conformation and obedience starting at 8:30 am. There will also be an AKC rally competition, an book signing and discussion with several authors, and a search and rescue demonstration with Disaster and Wilderness Ground Searchers, Inc. (DAWGS). FRIDAY, MAY 2 â The Horse Show 2003, an exhibition of art inspired by the horse, will open on Friday, May 2, at the Northern Westchester Center for the Arts at 272 North Bedford Road in Mount Kisco, New York. The month-long exhibition, which kicks off with a wine and cheese reception from 6 to 8:30 pm, includes paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography and original prints by more than 20 artists from across the northeast.
