Loving Mother And Grandmother
Virginia Doughty Quinn, 77, of Sandy Hook, died February 8 at Bethel Health Care Center after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Hugh J. Quinn, Jr. Mrs Quinn was born in New York City, daughter of Harry and Alice Doughty.
As a child, she attended Good Shepherd Church until her family relocated to Hartford, where she graduated from high school. She moved to Newtown and worked for the Sperry Rail Company, the Old Hundred Ice Cream Company, and the DuPont Company where she managed the Credit Union until her retirement.
Mrs Quinn enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels and the Food Pantry in Sandy Hook. She was a longtime member of Grace Christian Fellowship Church in Newtown. Her love of Jesus Christ was demonstrated in her daily life and gave her the great comfort and peace as she prepared to go home to Him.
She was a very loving mother and grandmother and leaves a daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Angelo Velez of Brookfield and grandchildren, Brian, Luis, Quinn, Cari, and Kayla; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Sowon Quinn of Newburgh, N.Y.; a son and daughter-in-law, Hugh and Margaret Quinn of Lewisville, N.C., and grandchildren, Valerie, Patricia, Randy, and Heather; two nieces, Frances Adams and Ann Marie Stomp; a special cousin, Lori Glass; and many other relatives.
Funeral services were held February 12 in the Honan Funeral Home, Newtown. Interment followed in St Rose Cemetery.
