P&Z Reelects O’Neil As Chairman

By Andrew Gorosko

The Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) has reelected Republican William O’Neil to another one-year term as the land use agency’s chairman.

P&Z members named Mr O’Neil to head the panel in voting at a November 6 session.

Five of the panel’s eight members attended the meeting. Present were Mr O’Neil, Republican regular member Sten Wilson, and Republican alternate member Jane Brymer, as well as Democratic regular members Lilla Dean and Robert Poulin. Absent were Republican regular member Daniel Fogliano, and Democratic alternate members Edward Kelleher and Richard Eigen. All eight P&Z members are eligible to vote in the election of P&Z officers.

In the voting, Mr Poulin nominated Mr O’Neil to serve as chairman. Ms Dean seconded the nomination. Members elected Mr O’Neil as chairman unopposed.

Mr O’Neil nominated Mr Wilson to serve another one-year term as the panel’s vice chairman. Ms Dean seconded the nomination. Members elected Mr Wilson without opposition.

Mr Poulin nominated Ms Dean to another term as the P&Z’s secretary. Mr Wilson seconded the nomination, which the members then approved.

The P&Z also named Ann Mazur to another one-year term as the agency’s administrative clerk.

The P&Z normally conducts its annual election of officers at its first meeting in December, but opted this year to hold the elections a month early.

In the town’s November 4 general elections, six of the P&Z’s eight members were up for reelection. All six ran unopposed and were reelected.

Elected to four-year terms were Messrs O’Neil, Wilson, and Poulin. Elected to two-year terms were Ms Brymer and Messrs Kelleher and Eigen.

Among the six P&Z members who were up for reelection, Mr O’Neil was the highest vote-getter, receiving 3,664 votes.
