Gerard William Le Blanc

Gerard William Le Blanc, 70, of Brookfield, died peacefully at home, May 6, after a brief illness. He was born in Queens, N.Y., the son of Joseph and Margaret O’Rourke Le Blanc. He was a devoted husband for 50 years to his wife, Margaret Kavanagh Le Blanc.

He graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School and received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from City College of New York.

He worked for almost three decades at the Perkin-Elmer Corporation where, as the senior director of Instrument Engineering, he played a key role in the development of the fine guidance systems for the Hubble Space Telescope, among other projects.

First and foremost a family man, Mr Le Blanc has left behind many who will miss his warmth and presence. In addition to his wife, his son Robert Le Blanc, and his wife Jill, of Newtown, daughters Kerry Le Blanc Strong, and her husband Jeffrey, of New York City and Clare Landrigan, and her husband Christopher, of Newton, Mass.; eight grandchildren; and his cousin Terry Baldanza survive Mr Le Blanc.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 11, at 2 pm, at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, from noon until the time of the service.
