Danbury Hospital Offers Safety Program To Area In-Home Day Care Providers
Danbury Hospital Offers Safety Program
To Area In-Home Day Care Providers
DANBURY â Each year, more than 26 million children in the United States injure themselves at home, with children under age 4 at the greatest risk. Of the approximately 6,040 children who died from unintentional injuries in 1999, more than 40 percent of these deaths occurred in and around the home as a result of burns, drowning, suffocation, choking, firearms, poisoning, and falls.
Danbury Hospital, through its membership in Fairfield County SAFE KIDS, is offering the âSafe & Soundâ program to in-home day care providers in the Danbury area. Speakers will address safety within the home environment, distribute informational materials, and instruct in-home day care providers on how to provide a safe environment for children.
The Safe & Sound program is made possible by a $15,000 discretionary grant from the Fairfield County Foundation. In addition to Danbury Hospital, Fairfield County SAFE KIDS will partner with other organizations in this effort to reach in-home day care providers throughout Fairfield County.
For more information, or to arrange a Safe & Sound program in your in-home day care, contact Charlie Conway, Executive Director, Fairfield County SAFE KIDS, at 203/834-9393; or e-mail info@fcfoundation.org.
