Bell Ringing To Begin

The Newtown unit of the Salvation Army will begin ringing Christmas bells on Friday, December 10.  The fund-raising will continue for two weekends.

Sign-up sheets are in the town clerk’s office and also with Co-chairpersons Sylvia Poulin, 426-6803, and Marie Sturdevant, 426-5957.

The Grand Union and Stop & Shop at Sand Hill Plaza have given permission for the kettles to be placed in front of their stores on Fridays, December 10 and 17, from 5 to 8 pm, and on Saturdays, December 11 and 18, from 10 am to 4 pm.

Money raised in this annual effort is used solely for Newtown residents who need temporary assistance and also to maintain the food pantry kept by the Salvation Army in Newtown. Anyone who needs assistance or food/household supplies can call the town’s Social Services Department in Edmond Town Hall at 270-4330.
