U11 Travel

Newtown White Lightning 7, Trumbull 4 – In the final league game of the season, Newtown powered by Trumbull with an offensive explosion. The White Lightning are tied for second place with a record of 4 wins, 2 ties and 2 losses. Overall they have 6 wins, 5 ties and 3 losses. They finish up the season this weekend at the Cheshire Father’s Day tournament.

 Luca Imbimbo started off the scoring on a shot set up by a pass from Patrick Rowley. Knute Johnson followed with his first goal of the season. Kaj Djonne finished off the first half with a goal set up by Michael Biancardi. The first half ended in a 3-3 tie but Newtown dominated the second half. Michael Cook started the second half with a goal off an assist from Ryan King. Shortly after Luca scored his second goal of the game which was set up on a pass from Clay Gattey. Then in a great passing play, Ryan set up Clay who scored to put Newtown up by two goals. Kaj Djonne finished off the scoring and Patrick Rowley had the assist. The defense was led by Nathyn Horvath, Kevin Droniak, Graham Hubbert, and Dillon WIkramanayake. Kevin Ovendorf had several saves in net. Jeremy Doski, Anthony Vournazos, Constantine Gregoire, and Sawyer Conrad were solid on offense.

 

U14

Thunderbolts 0, Boots 3 – Ryan Pisani, Ryan Moyer, and Luke Piazza scored for Boots. Brandon Luxkaranayagam did a great job on defense, and Henry Summ was active on wing. Tim Kelly and Justin Adsitt-Weiner played well as goalies for the Thunderbolts. Josh Tuffy played excellent at midfield, and Patrick Haggerty played solid defense.

The Fives 3, Strykerz 2 – Harry Solaski, Tyler Ruefenacht, and James Holcomb each scored one goal for The Fives. Jonah McKeown played well on defense. Ivan Hutchison and Chad Cullens each scored a goal for the Strykerz. Charlie Poarch anchored the midfield, and Michael Marcinek had a good game at defense.

The Fives 5, Strykerz 5 – Tyler Ruefenacht scored a hat trick and Tommy Cassin scored two for the Fives who had great passing from Danny Colucci, Tyler Coleman, and Joe Anastasi. Chad Cullens scored three, Ivan Hutchinson added one, and Nick Shannon scored one for the Strykerz. Ethan Perkus, Adam Koziol, Sean Watkins, and Ben Galassi played solid all-around games.

U8

Bulldogs 3, Real Mohawks 1 – Evan Eggleston of the Bulldogs scored two goals and Shane Gattey scored one  in the win. Jack Vaughn played a great all-around game for the Bulldogs. For the Real Mohawks, Ellis Hubbard had a great all-around game, Christopher Faxon made some good runs and Mitchell Long played well in the goal.

The SuperChargers 3, Team Ten 2 – Thomas Leuci (1) and Alex Hess (2) scored for the SuperChargers and Justin Gillespie, Ryan Brello, and Luke Melillo played well. For Team Ten Matt, Dylan and Shane played well on offense with R.H., Tyler and Zack playing strong on defense. Both teams played well under extremely hot conditions.

 

U6

Tigers 2, Team (#2) 2 — Kyle Duval scored for the hardworking Tigers, and Gren Paynter, Joe Pagett, and Brendan Smith played strong all-around games. For Team #2, Paul Samberg scored the tying goal with less than a minute to play after a pass from Matthew Dubois. Bryce Bisset, Chris Venezia, and Jacob Riley helped to preserve the tie with their tireless defensive efforts.
