Rimmon Hill Farm 4-H, Pineview Horsmen 4-H, and the Fairfield County 4-H were at the center of quite a bit of excitement recently . . . running the gamut from state competitions to being selected as delegates for the Eastern States competition.
In photo above, from left, Alyssa Osiecki (with her Appaloosa mare, Oreo), Lindsay Hudson-Tolles (with her Morgan mare, Spicerâs Katie Mae) and Katie Daragan (with her quarter horse gelding, Beau) were chosen to be among Connecticutâs first-year delegates for the 4-H Horse Project at the Eastern States Exposition (The Big E) in September.
Osiecki is from the Rimmon Hill Farm 4-H in Oxford while Hudson-Tolles, of Newtown, and Daragan, of Trumbull, both belong to the Pineview Horsemen 4-H in Oxford. The girls will compete against other 4-Hers from through New England in mounted competition, horse management, and written tests.
The girls, all 15, recently underwent vigorous testing at the University of Connecticut.
In the photo upper left, the Fairfield County 4-H Horse Judging team recently brought home ribbons and first-llace medals from state competition. In the first row (with coach Kim McDonald in the foreground) is Katie Forcier, Melanie Phelan, Lindsay Hudson-Tolles, Alyssa Hudson-Tolles and Taylor Boles. The second row is Melanie Murphy, Liz Rowland, Katie Bryan and Justin Griffin. In the top row is Sarah Picheco and Alyssa Osiecki.
