The Power Of Dolls:
Show Returns Oct. 24
The power of dolls will be evident at the Twelfth Annual Antique and Collectible Doll Show/Sale on Sunday, October 24, sponsored by the Jenny Lind Doll Club of Connecticut member United Federation of Doll Clubs. The event will be at The Fireside Inn, 123 Main Street in Newtown.
It will be open from 10 am to 4 pm. Admission is $4.50 per person.
Whatever the taste of the collector, from antique to new, there will be quality dolls available of every vintage and variety. The magic of dolls seems to lie in the fact that they touch their audience on a personal level. They remind collectors of loved ones, often depict familiar cultures, evoke days past.
The world of dolls brings together enthusiasts through clubs such as the Jenny Lind Doll Club. Boasting a diverse membership, ages 17 to 90, members hail from all ends of the state.
One of the oldest doll clubs in Connecticut, the Jenny Lind group is interested in preserving the dolls of yesterday and today for tomorrow. Members meet periodically to update doll knowledge, plan educational programs and encourage networking.
The Jenny Lind Doll Club took over the sponsorship of the annual Antique and Collectible Doll Show/Sale in Newtown last year and met with great success.
A returning popular feature of the show will be an appraisal table, where items will be appraised for a small fee. Collectors and doll-related vendors from across the state will have booths set up in the innâs grand ballroom.
