Vocal Ensemble Will Continue Music At Trinity Series

The Woodland Scholars, an 18 member a cappella vocal ensemble directed by Larry Allen, will perform at Trinity Episcopal Church on Friday, May 14, at 7 pm. A reception will follow the performance.

The program will span the centuries including psalms of Brahms and Mendelssohn, spirituals, folk songs, and Pops arrangements.

This concert is part of the ongoing Music at Trinity program of free concerts. Donations to support the continuance of this program are encouraged and gratefully accepted. Suggested donation is $7.

The Woodland Scholars was organized in 1993 to promote the art of a cappella vocal chamber music. Through a diverse and eclectic repertoire, the Scholars demonstrate that one group of singers can sing a variety of vocal styles and, in effect, become a vocal orchestra with a wide-ranging palette of vocal colors.

They have promoted their artistry through concerts in New England and New York, and have conducted vocal workshops and master classes with high school and university students. By programming recently composed music and arrangements by the ensemble, The Woodland Scholars generates new repertoire for other ensembles seeking to enrich their choral experience.

The Scholars have appeared at district and regional conventions of the American Guild of Organists, and the American Choral Directors Association. This season they have performed at Hastings College in Nebraska and gave master classes and workshops with students of the college and for the National Association of Teachers of Singing District Convention.
