STORRS, CONN. â The William Benton Museum of Art presents the exhibition, âRodinâs Contemporaries,â on view through December 16.
The visual arts in France from the late Nineteenth to early Twentieth Centuries were varied, innovative and revolutionary, changing the course of Western art in the Twentieth Century. Auguste Rodin (1840â1917) created his sculptural masterpieces during this era and, as a complement to the exhibition of his sculpture, 15 works by his contemporaries will be exhibited, including Camille Pissarroâs lithograph, âThe Firewood Gatherersâ; Théodule Ribotâs dramatically dark and realist painting, âPortrait of an Old Woman;â and Alphonse Legrosâ âThe Aged Spaniard.âÂ
