NMS Students Watch Inspirational Video

Becky Wahlgren and Caleb Wahlgren traveled from Los Angeles to bring this yearâs Camfel Productions video to students across New England, like the students who watched the video of the auditorium of Newtown Middle School on Tuesday, September 29.
This is the third year a Camfel Productions video was shared with students at NMS. According to its website, Camfel Productions is a nonprofit organization specializing in three-screen multimedia assembly presentations that motivate students. This yearâs video is titled Balance of Power.
Ms Wahlgren said the video focuses on the students in the middle school age group to share a message with them. In the video, multiple students are interviewed about their struggles to find a balance of power in their life.
âI think especially in this one,â Mr Wahlgren said, âthere is a person named Nick who does not have arms or legs, and he is so motivational.â
Previous videos created by Camfel Productions in have focused on teaching students who to trust and about having a commitment to excellence, according to Mr Wahlgren. This yearâs video focused on balancing the scales of life and finding a proper way to work toward evening out those scales.
NMS students watched as other students worked against those around them to gain what they wanted. Those same students by the end of the film had grown to understand that working with others and putting in effort are more affective at balancing fairness. One soccer student had to work more than others because she could not attend summer programs that helped other students better themselves.
PTA members Andrea Spencer and Robin Fitzgerald organized the event.
