WestConn To Stage One-Act Plays
DANBURY â Western Connecticut State University theatre arts students will put their knowledge of directing to the test as they stage 15 one-act plays arranged in two groups this weekend in the Reimold Theatre of Berkshire Hall, on the universityâs midtown campus on Osborne Street.
The first group of eight ten-minute plays (âGroup Aâ) will be presented on December 7. These same eight plays will be staged again at 5 pm on Saturday, December 9.
The second group of seven ten-minute plays (âGroup Bâ) will be staged at 8 pm on Friday, December 8, and again at 8 pm on Saturday, December 9. The public is invited to all performances, which will be free.
Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts Pam McDaniel said the plays all are by contemporary writers.
âAll these plays are pieces that have previously been produced at new works festivals such as Actors Theatre of Louisville,â she said. âOur directors will be our junior and senior directing students, and our actors have been cast campuswide, so not all are theater arts majors.â
Group A plays are Lynette at 3 am, Electric Roses, Hurry, Borrowed Parts, Visiting Dad, Broken Hearts, Dr Fritz: or Forces of Light and Everyoneâs Gonna Die.
Group B plays will be Two Eclairs, Gerard and Josie ... A Love Story, Duet for Dog and Bear, The Office, Menâs Intuition, Gave Her the Eye and Playwriting 101: The Rooftop Lesson.
