Education Connection Drama Club Presents Mystery

As The Bee went to press on Thursday, December 15, members of the Reed Intermediate School Education Connection Drama Club gathered to present a free performance of a mystery dramatization in the schoolâs cafetorium.
A small group of seven fifth and sixth graders, who participate in the after-school program, have been meeting for the past several weeks with Education Connection instructor Johanna Bjorklund to write, produce, and act in their own mystery drama presentation to be unveiled Thursday evening at 5:15 at Reed.
The industrious students invited friends and family to the dramatization with the opportunity to share refreshments after the show.
Students participating in the student-written production surrounding the mysterious disappearance of the school principal are Alexis Archer, Nick Heron, Michaela Beaudry, Jack Wilson, Emily Bodwell, Alex Sullivan, and Jennifer Hersh.
Sixth grader Alexis Archer commented, âWe got to create our own characters and bring our characters out in the acting.â Jack Wilson stated that he enjoyed coming and being with his friends as well as getting ready for the production. âItâs fun being with your friends. Inviting your friends and family to come see you perform in front of the whole school. Everyone is invited to come,â Jack said.
Sixth grader Alex Sullivan said, âIt has been a great experience and something I would definitely like to do again.â
Ms Bjorklund, who has a theater background, said, âThe students learned about writing and putting together a production. They learned about making modifications when you have to and gained a taste of what theater is like.â
