SOUTHBURY â The Love and Knishes Senior Lunch Program of the Federation-Jewish Communities of Western, Conn., is now meeting on Tuesday in August. The luncheons take place at the Walzer Family Jewish Community Campus, 444 Main Street North. The following programs are planned for August:
On August 5, the Litchfield Hills Opera Ensemble presents âAn Afternoon of Classics.â The group will sing favorite arias, duets, and trios from operas by composers including Puccini, Bizet, and Rossini.
On August 12, âThe Grapefruit Diet and Other Mythsâ will be discussed by registered dietician Tamzin Marchese of Waterbury Hospital. She will help debunk the myths about dieting and talk about what really works to maintain a healthy weight.
On August 19, the Bristol Old Tyme Fiddlers will fill the social hall with their toe-tapping music as more than a dozen musician pick, fiddle, and strum through an amazing variety of tunes.
On August 26, Maestro David Dworkin returns at 11 am for his final encore of Conductorcise, a sound workout for body and soul. This is Maestro Dworkinâs seventh appearance at the center, where he has a large following of people who adore the hour-long program of classical music, conducting, and hearing tales of the composers.
