St Vincent’s Chief To Retire

BRIDGEPORT –– William J. Riordan, the longest serving chief executive officer of any hospital in Connecticut, will be leaving St Vincent’s Medical center this month.

Mr Riordan, who is president and chief executive officer of the medical center and St Vincent’s Health Services, will complete 30 years of service this month. He notified the board of directors in April of his plans to retire.

A nationwide search is now in process to find a new president/CEO. John M. Ahle, St Vincent’s senior vice president and chief financial officer, will assume Mr Riordan’s duties until a replacement is found.

Mr Riordan will remain as a consultant to the medical center and the health system until early next year.

Dr Mr Riordan’s tenure, St Vincent’s became one of the premier cardiac institutions in Connecticut and twice received Top 100 Hospital Designations from Solucient, a national benchmarking organization. It also was twice awarded accreditation with commendation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
