Although the State Coaches’ Tournament is out of the question, the Newtown High School girls’ lacrosse team still has a shot at the South-West Conference tournament – providing the Lady Nighthawks can defeat Brookfield, New Milford and Lauralton Hall.

The ‘Hawks crushed Lauralton Hall last week, 13-3, as Meg Regnery, Brittany Boyle, Lindsey Coyle and Robyn Pacheco scored two goals apiece. Sarah Whalley, Heidi Ekstrom, Kelly Collier, Kelly Rodden and Jess Budnick also scored.

But the ‘Hawks fell to Joel Barlow on Tuesday night, 14-6, to fall to 5-8 overall.

The game against Brookfield (weather permitting) is in Brookfield and the game on Friday against New Milford (also weather permitting) will be Senior Night. The game against Lauralton Hall next week is only tentative.
