Family Counseling Center Recognizes Volunteers, Elects Officers

By Jan Howard

The Family Counseling Center recognized volunteers for their contributions over the years during its annual meeting June 24 at the C.H. Booth Library.

The 2002 H.D. Award was presented to Martine L. Leroux, one of the partners of Image One Printing & Graphics, Inc in Monroe, who has donated the layout and printing of the Holiday Festival Program Book for the past 14 years. The H.D. Award is named in honor of H.D. Bassett, a former board member and treasurer as well as first recipient. Ms Leroux was unable to attend the meeting.

The second annual Staff Appreciation Award recipient was Vickie Santore, who worked at the center for 14 years, first as a therapist, and then as its first full-time clinical director. She retired in May to spend more time with her grandchildren and pursue her hobbies.

Awards were also presented to Holiday Festival co-chairs Nancy Obremski and Lynn Brault for their contributions to the 16th annual Family Counseling Center Holiday Festival, which raises money for the center and its programs. Ms Brault was unable to attend the meeting.

Outgoing board member Mary Harrington Tomasiewicz was recognized for her longtime membership as a board member.

The Family Counseling Center’s Board of Directors officers for 2002/03 were elected as follows: Glenn Nanavaty, chairperson; Edward Kelleher, vice chairman; Elise Trock, recording secretary; Bruce Walczak, treasurer; and Robert Braddock, assistant treasurer.

The following directors were elected to serve a two-year term ending June 2004: Rory Chapdelaine, Kim Connolly, Joseph Humeston, and Connie Huntington. Returning directors with terms that expire in June 2003 are: John Banks, Enza Bloise, Robert Braddock, Albert Desrosiers, Edward Kelleher, Glenn Nanavaty, Nancy Obremski, Barbara Pisacreta, Michael Schwarzchild, Nancy Sedensky, Barbara Selleck, Elise Trock, and Bruce Walczak.

David B. Rowley was elected as a new director.

The Family Counseling Center, located at 121 Mt Pleasant Road, is a licensed, accredited, nonprofit mental health center serving the residents of greater Danbury, regardless of ability to pay.
