Sunday Tours Of ‘Family’

RIDGEFIELD — The topic of family touches everyone personally and oftentimes deeply, remaining one of the most universal and complex subjects of any era.

Join The Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art for docent-guided tours of its major summer exhibition, “Family” at 2 pm on select Sundays throughout the summer: July 7, July 14, July 21, August 4, August 18, and August 25. Tours are free with museum admission. For more information, call Pat Barratt at the museum at 203-438-4519.

Featuring 37 artists, “Family” explores one of the few collective experiences that both uniquely and universally touches each of us: the family. Artists address the notion of the family by examining countless issues such as the institution of marriage, the joys and travails of motherhood, fertility, sibling rivalry, and much more, while also challenging any notion remaining of a “normal” or “typical” family.

Museum docents (volunteer museum guides) will host each Sunday tour. Invaluable resources to The Aldrich Museum, docents will enrich the viewer’s experience by facilitating group discussions and addressing questions about the exhibition on view.

The Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art is at 258 Main Street (Route 35) in Ridgefield. Regular museum hours are Tuesday through Sunday, noon to 5 pm.
