Leadership Opportunities For Music Enthusiasts
DANBURY â Command Performance, a volunteer-run non-profit performance arts organization for the greater Danbury region, is looking to expand its board of directors and volunteer committees. Command Performance of Greater Danbury specializes in presenting high caliber jazz, classical musical and dance events with artists who have performed at venues such as Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall.
Since its inception in 2000, the young arts organization has hosted the Tokyo String Quartet, Empire Brass, Tito Puente Latin Jazz Orchestra, Dizzy Gillespieâs Alumni All Stars, Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, jazz greats Slide Hampton, Jon Faddis, Cyrus Chestnut and jazz flutists Dave Valentine and Sherry Winston.
Board members and volunteers are needed for committees ranging from sponsorship and patron development, community/student outreach, marketing/promotion and event planning. Individuals are encouraged to bring their enthusiasm, expertise and energy to continue developing Command Performance into a first class performance arts organization.
Steve Pichiarallo, president, says, âWe want to continue bringing to our communities top professional cultural entertainment and keep this area a focus for the arts. Command Performance is building and developing an organization to stage artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Paul Taylor Dance Company, Yo-Yo Ma, Diana Krall, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Audra McDonald, Arturo Sandoval and others who are cultural stars. This will only happen if there is help and collaboration from many different sources and a network of sponsors, patrons and dedicated volunteers.â
Command Performance has been successful in garnering the support of the business community with Gold Sponsor Western Connecticut Federal Credit Union supporting artists for its 2002 season and Phoenix Insurance Company as a Diamond Sponsor for its 2002 fall/2003 spring season. Levels of corporate and individual sponsorships are diamond, platinum, gold and silver.
Any individuals who are interested in joining the board or committees are invited to call 825-3131, send email to CPerformance@snet.net or long on to www.CPerformance.org for more information.
