Program On Digestive Disorders
FARMINGTON â Indigestion, irritable bowel syndrome, colon cancer, and viral hepatitis are some common gastrointestinal disorders that will be discussed by UConn Health Center physicians at a Discovery Series program on April 8.
The program is free and begins at 7 pm in the Health Centerâs Keller Auditorium (use the main hospital entrance). Advance registration is requested; call 800-535-6232 or 860-679-7692.
âItâs estimated that over 95 million Americans experience some kind of digestive problem,â said Dr Herbert Bonkovsky, director of the health centerâs Liver-Biliary-Pancreatic Center and one of the program speakers. âInnovations in research and treatment continue to improve our ability to diagnose and treat these diseases,â he said.
Dr Bonkovskyâs presentation will focus on Hepatitis C and other forms of viral hepatitis. He will be joined by Joel Levine, a professor of medicine, who will discuss colon cancer; and Dr Philip Jaffe, associate professor of medicine, who will talk about irritable bowel syndrome and gastro-esophageal reflux disease.
