Michael D.    Johnston

Michael D. “Mad Dog” Johnston, 49, of Oakview Road, Sandy Hook, died unexpectedly March 21 at his home.

Michael was born in Danbury March 12, 1954, a son of the late Ralph R. and Doris (Worth) Johnston. He was a lifelong resident of Newtown and attended Newtown schools. Following high school, Michael joined the Merchant Marines. He then was employed by the former Batchelder Company, Bridgeport Name Plate, and as a subcontractor in cable TV system construction.

He was an avid motorcyclist and collector of motorcycle memorabilia and a designer of custom-made knives.

Michael is survived by his son, Jesse Johnston of Oxford; a brother, Randy Johnston and his wife, Diane, of Wilmer, Ala.; his former wife, Mary Ellen Macedonia of Oxford; a niece, Kelly Johnston; an uncle, Edward D. Johnston of Edgewater, Fla.; and several cousins. He was also predeceased by a nephew, Joshua Johnston.

Funeral Services were held March 25 in Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Private cremation will be at Mountain Grove Crematory, Bridgeport.
