Youth Runners Compete In Season’s First Meet

Members of the Hawks Track club competed in their first meet on April 30 at New Fairfield high school. The co-ed team earned 24 points and beat East Ridge Middle school in the six-team meet.

Girls’ results

Erin Begg (8th grade) won the 1600 in 6:07 and took second in the 800. In the 60 meter hurdles, Jenny Indelicato (7th grade) finished in 10th place with a time of 13.64 and was followed closely by teamate Allisin Kron (7th grade) who finished in 11th place with a time of 16.66. Lydia Beiter (7th grade) took 14th, Molly Begg (4th grade) took 19th and Ellyn Gordon (7th grade) followed closely in 20th position. The 4x100 meter relay team of Alex Screli, Lydia Beiter, Jenny Indelicato and Sara Stofko (all 7th graders) posted a 65.19 time and finished in fifth place. Jenny idelicato ran a great race in the 100 meter dash and took third place with a time of 15.2. Alex Screli led the long jumpers with a 10-10 jump for sixth place. Sara stofko’s 9-2 jump and Jenny Indelicato’s 9-1 jump landed them in 14th and 15th, respectively. Molly Begg, Ellyn Gordon and Lydia Beiter all jumped over 8 feet in the event. Gailen Heller (5th grade) ran very well in her first 800 meter race.

Boys’ results

Joey Whelan (5th grade) ran to a ninth place finish in the 1600 with a 6:36 time, and Billy Begg (6th grade) had a time of 7:07, good for 13th place. He also finished in 9th in the 800 meter run in 3:18. Kyle Gordon took 6th place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 39.21.
