SHU Kicks Off 40th Anniversary

FAIRFIELD — Sacred Heart University embarked on a yearlong celebration of its 40th anniversary with a Founder’s Day awards ceremony and luncheon for faculty and staff held at the William H. Pitt Center on the main campus in Fairfield. Sacred Heart University’s 40th anniversary theme is “40 Years of Pioneering Excellence.” Among the service award recipients was Anthony J. Cernera, president, who has led the university through a period of unprecedented growth over the past 15 years. Dr Cernera’s award was presented by two Iraqi-born Americans, and members of the Sacred Heart University faculty –– Dhia A. Habboush, PhD, and Ramzi N. Frangul, PhD –– “as a sign of our desire for peace and reconciliation in the world.”

A total of 34 Sacred Heart University Founder’s Day service awards were presented to faculty and staff for 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35 years of service.
