YMCA Summer Camps Are Open

NEW FAIRFIELD — The Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut’s Great Hollow Wilderness School is offering several camps this summer. Great Hollow is at 225 Route 37 in New Fairfield.

Wilderness Camp, for 8–12-year-olds, will run in weekly sessions from July 7 to August 1, meeting 8 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday. Activities may include hiking, canoeing, caving, orienteering, nature awareness and exploration, art, camping skills and safety, recreational swim, rock climbing, new games, and adventure programming.

Teen Adventure Camp, for 13–15-year-olds, will run in weekly sessions from July 14 to August 1, also 8 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday, and with an overnight on Thursday. Week 1 will focus on canoeing/kayaking, Week 2 will focus on caving, and Week 3 is climbing/rocks.

Nature’s Choice, for 8–15-year-olds, will run in weekly sessions July 7 to August 22, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 4 pm. Nature’s Choice is a nature awareness, survival, and young naturalist training and ecology camp. Each week will focus on a special topic. There will also be two weeks of overnight camping open at the end of the summer.
