âSybilâs Night Rideâ Author Will Visit Danbury
DANBURY â Itâs the American Revolution, Danbury is invaded by British Troops, and who helps to save the city? The answer is the focus of the newly published childrenâs book Sybilâs Night Ride, written and illustrated by Karen B. Winnick.
Ms Winnick will visit Danbury Library on Wednesday, November 15, to talk about the heroine of her book, Sybil Ludington. Sybil rode through the night on her colt Star to awaken sleeping patriots and warn them the British were close and had attacked Danbury.
Thanks to Miss Ludingtonâs courage, the troops were successfully gathered and forced the British out of Danbury and the area.
Children of all ages and their parents/caretakers are invited to visit the library on Wednesday, November 15, from 6:30 to 7:45 pm, to meet Ms Winnick and hear about her inspirations in writing her book about a local heroine. Books will be available for purchase and autographs.
For additional information, contact the Danbury Library Junior Services Department at 797-4528. The library is at 170 Main Street, at the corner of West.
