To The Editor:

What a tremendous success the Newtown Republican Town Committee's Family BBQ and Picnic was last Sunday at Treadwell Park. The weather was hot, but the drinks were cold, and good food was served to all in attendance.

The burgers and dogs were cooked to perfection. The fresh clams, donated by Hillard Bloom Shellfish of Norwalk, were delicious either on the half shell or steamed and drenched in lemon and drawn butter. The music playlist was upbeat but at a level that allowed for conversation. The crowd cheered on the ball throwers at the dunk tank as participants anxiously awaited atop.  Those dunked included State Senator, Tony Hwang, newly elected State Central Chairman, J.R. Romano and Yours Truly. While getting dunked at least a half dozen times was an exciting way to cool off, it also helped me to recognize which friends can throw strikes and those who can only throw tantrums!

The entire RTC is humbled and honored to have so many friends and supporters. Newtowners took time from their busy Sunday to come out and join us for our first annual event.  We are truly blessed to have such broad support in our community and will continue to work hard every day to earn it. Thank You to everyone who helped to make the day a success.

We look forward to seeing all our fellow Newtowners this fall on the campaign trail. As always, we will listen to your ideas while spreading our message of government that is responsive and accountable to the people of Newtown.

Sincerely,

Jeff Capeci

Chairman, Newtown Republican Town Committee
