Carrie J. Disette
Carrie J. Disette, daughter of John and Sharon Disette of Sandy Hook, graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University in Washington D.C. on May 26. She was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree with a dual concentration in health and business.
Miss DiSetta was designated a health scholar. She also received a Deanâs Citation in recognition of her contributions and extracurricular activities during her four years at Georgetown. Miss DiSetta also studied at the University of Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain, where she received high honors.
Michael V. Rigoli, son of Mr and Mrs Vincent M. Rigoli of Newtown, was named to the facultyâs list of honorable mention for the spring term of the 2000-01 academic year at Roanoke College.
Sean Douglas Moran, son of Frederick and Kin Moran of Newtown and grandson of Walter and Doris Schoonmaker of Sandy Hook, recently graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, with a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry. Mr Moran is a 1998 graduate of Newtown High School
While attending McGill, Mr Moran received several awards including the James B. McGill Award and the Phoenix International Award for Excellence. He was also inducted into the National Key Golden Honor Society.
Mr Moran graduated with honors and great distinction and was named to the deanâs list each semester at McGill. He will receive his Masters in Biochemistry in August and will enter a PhD biophysics program in the fall with an emphasis on protein folding. Mr Moran will attend either Columbia University or the University of California at Irvine.
Erica Forde, daughter of David and Janet Forde of Sandy Hook, was named to the deanâs list at Fairfield University for the spring semester. She is majoring in business at the university.
Lance Panigutti of Newtown has accepted membership in The National Society of Collegiate Scholars and will be honored this fall during a ceremony at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Margaret Forde, daughter of David and Janet Forde of Sandy Hook, graduated from the University of Connecticut in May with a Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice and psychology. She will be attending Central Connecticut State University to obtain her Masterâs degree in criminal justice this fall.

St Joseph High School in Trumbull announced the following local students who received honors at the close of the fourth marking quarter at the school: freshman Meghan Bartow, daughter of Mr and Mrs John Bartow, earned principalâs honors; while junior Anthony Bombaci, son of Mr and Mrs Wayne Bombaci, freshman Johanna Bombaci, daughter of Mr and Mrs Wayne Bombaci, and Holly Phaneuf, daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert Phaneuf, were all named to the honor roll.
Deepa Bansal, a freshman at the University of Rochester, has been named to the deanâs list for academic achievement for the spring 2001 semester. She is a resident of Sandy Hook.
Brendan Carl Trillhaase of Sandy Hook has received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Drew University. The university celebrated its 133rd commencement on May 19.
Tufts University announced the deanâs list for the spring 2001 semester. The following local students earned this academic honor: Lynn Cooper of Newtown received deanâs list honors from Tufts School of Arts & Sciences and Erika Gellert of Newtown received deanâs list honors from Tufts School of Arts & Sciences. Miss Gellert also graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tufts.
Jessica Singer of Newtown was named to deanâs list at Canisius College for the spring 2001 semester. She is a sophomore Socially Spanish Social Studies major.
Drew University student Jennifer Beth Dorenbosch of Newtown has been named to deanâs list for the spring semester 2001.
Lauren A. LaPierre, daughter of Ronald and Marion LaPierre, was awarded a bachelor of fine arts from Rhode Island School of Design in June, where she majored in jewelry and metalsmithing on a full academic scholarship. Miss LaPierre also received an associates degree magna cum laude from Keystone College in 1998 and was a 1996 graduate of Newtown High School.
