Trips –

May 21: The Bronx Zoo. Cost is $56 per person. Bus leaves Newtown Middle School at 8:30 am and returns around 6 pm.

June 11: Block Island, Rhode Island. Take a one-hour cruise from New London to Old Harbor. Go biking hiking, relax on the beach or watch the yachts maneuver and a variety of shops. Cost is $62 per person. Bus leaves the Newtown Middle School at 9:15 am and returns approximately 10 pm.

July 24: Take a trip to All-You-Can-Eat-Lobster and casino bonus at the Mohegan Sun. Cost is $75 per person. Bus leaves the Newtown Middle School at 10 am and returns approximately 9:30 pm.

August 20: Take a summer cruise on Narragansett Bay. Round trip from Warren to Newport, Rhode Island. Bus leaves the Newtown Middle School at 7 am and returns approximately 8:30 pm. Cost is $65 per person.

Registration is happening now for all Summer Camps.

This includes Summer Day Camp at Treadwell and Dickinson Park.  Day camp fees are $170 for one, two-week session, $320 for two, two-week sessions and $450 for three, two-week sessions. Summer Day Camp is available for children four years old (by June 30, 2005) through sixth grade. A copy of a birth certificate is required with tiny tots registrations. There is a new site director to Dickinson and a new site director for Treadwell Park. Camp runs from July 5 to August 12. You can also sign up for one week, however this is only taken two weeks prior to start of a session. The fee for one week is $95. Each camper will receive a T- shirt.

There is still room in the Middle School Camp. Middle School camp runs from July 5 to July 29. Some exciting trips planned for this camp … such as Checkered Flag Raceway, where kids can go kart racing. Watch out for paintball, biking, caving, rock climbing and more. The fee for the entire month of July is $800. Sign up for all four weeks or pick a week you prefer (prices vary from week to week). The week of July 5 to July 8 is $205; July 11 to July 15 is $255, July 18 to July 22 is $215 and July 25 to July 29 is $225. For detail of trips check out the  website.

Nighthawk Baseball Camp for ages 9 to 12 and ages 13 to 15, run by Newtown High School coach Carl Strait and Pat Cooke, will run July 18-22 and July 25-29. The fee is $110 per child.

Girls Softball Camp for grades 6 to 8, run by Newtown High School coach Jay Edwards, has space for 24 girls. Fee is $115 per child.

New this year for ages 7 to 14 is Volleyball Camp from August 15 to August 19, 9 am to 12 noon or 1 to 4 pm. The Camp is run by Skyhawks Sports Camp and the fee is $98.

Also look out for Roller Hockey Camp from June 27 through July 1, 9 am to 12 noon. The program teaches proper stick handling, passing and more. The fee is $98 per child.

For ages 11 to 14, there will be a Flag Football Camp. The camp will run July 5-8; July 11-15; July 18-22; and July 25-29 and the times run from 8:30 am to 10:30 am and 10:45 am to 12:45. The fee is $109 per child. The camp will be run by Jeffrey Tolson, who has coached from youth to high school varsity in a variety of sports.

Other sports camps offered include basketball, tennis, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, karate, soccer, track horse camp and dance camp.
