DANBURY 5, EAGLES 3: Ryan Golankiewicz scored a pair of goals (one on a penalty kick) and Bill Sims added another (off an assist from Greg Aiello), but the Eagles fell to Danbury. Danny Lawrence and Danny Tichon played well in the loss.
SHOCKWAVE 3, THUNDER 2: Ryan Hudock, Chuck Brooks and Adam Camerron-Braley each scored goals on assists by Steve Borschetta and Ryan Morrissey to lead the Shockwave to the win. In a late-game surge Blake Barreto and Adam Calderone of the Thunder scored goals with assists by Neris Halili. A strong defense by Nick Ciarali and Alan Shwartz kept the Thunder at bay preserving the win for the âWave.

NIGHTHAWKS 1, LIGHTNING 0 (Semi-Finals): Danielle Norris scored the lone goal to lift the Nighthawks to a semi-final win. Ashley Davis and Lindsey Yingling anchored the defense while Maura McDade and Michelle Haitz powered the offense. For the Lightning, Kristin Stoller, Nicole Collins, Kaitlin Marsden and Julie DeAngelis all played well.
NIGHTHAWKS 2, HURRICANES 1 (Championship): Nicole Grillo and Cara Colacurcio scored key shootout goals to lead the Nighthawks to a thrilling overtime win over the Hurricanes. Danielle Norris scored in regulation for the âHawks while Amanda Sweat, Abby Grillo and Rebecca Caste played well. For the âCanes, Stephanie Arndt scored in regulation while Vanessa Richards scored in the shootout. Samantha Whitely and Katie OâDell also played well.

DEFENDERS 4, GIGGLES 0: Casey Rutter, Katie Shirley, Leah Barrett and Celeste Cheung each scored a goal to lift the Defenders to the win. Jill Jagoe, Nicole Gindraux and Emma Iannini displayed spectacular teamwork. The Giggleâs Mallory Reilly, Sarah Collins and Stephanie Clavette played solid games.
DEFENDERS 3, LIGHTNING 0: Casey Rutter, Laura Curcuruto and Lila Kohrman-Glaser each scored a goal to lift the Defenders to a 3-0 victory over the Lightning. Nicole Gindraux registered an assist while Alyse Brautigam anchored the defense. The Lightningâs Amanda Swift, Amanda Stanton and Amanda Kloth played well.
DOLPHINS 4, NIGHTHAWKS 1: Kelly OâConnor and Julia Klucik worked together to score a goal, and each went on to score another, with Alison Pliszka adding a goal to give the Dolphins a 4-1 victory over the Nighthawks. Jen Smith scored for the Nighthawks, with Abby Keough and Courtney Beckett both playing well for the team. The Dolphinsâ Shannon and Jennifer McDonald also had outstanding games.
HURRICANES 5, SPEED DEMONS 4: Alexandra Grant and Meaghan Carney each scored 2 goals and Mara Scallon tallied the deciding goal for the Hurricanes. Matilda Dean and Nora Murphy contributed two assists . Sarah Murtha scored all four Speed Demon goals. Other standouts for the Speed Demons were Lexi Black with strong offensive play, Elena Rose with a strong quarter in goal and Alina Schwartz with a good all around game.
ALL STARS 2, HURRICANES 2: Ali Korchman and Gabrielle Milano of the All Stars scored while Meaghan Carney scored twice for the Hurricanes in the tie. Molly Mohony, Kyra Smith, and Katie McMorran all played well. For the Hurricanes, Matilda Dean and Emily Ashbolt played awesome defense while Caroline Lawrence and Nora Murphy played outstanding offense.

TIGERSHARKS 2, EAGLES 0: Christian Gregoire scored one goal and assisted on another â both in the fourth quarter â to lead the Tigersharks to the win. Ryan Pasko also scored. Matt Datin and Luke Shearin played well. For the Eagles, the triad of Conner Quinn, Thomas Healy and Christopher Tenney kept the pressure on the Tigershark defense all afternoon. Mark Malia was the Eagle defensive standout of the game.
WOLFPACK 1, SONICS 1: Colin Cooper scored to lead the Wolfpack. Thomas Murphy, Chad Cullens, Zack Baudisch and Kevin Dennis played well. For the Sonics, Michael Shannon scored the goal while Joey Coelho, Tyler Hanna and Chris Arnone played well.

NEWTOWN 6, NEW FAIRFIELD 3: Newtown remained undefeated in league play as Andrew Meisel notched his fourth hat trick of the season. Connor Collier, Kurt Naciewicz and Andrew Domingos also scored for the Nightmare. Mickey Fay and Ryan Goodridge played well in midfield while Joe Cappiello and Steve Marks anchored the defense in front of some fine goaltending by Jason Kostecki.
NEWTOWN 14, NEW MILFORD 0: Kurt Nacewicz scored three goals while Connor McManus, Connor Collier and John Gouveia scored two apiece in the rout. Andrew Meisel, Andrew Domingos, Joe Cappiello,, Chris Marks, and Michael Kearns also scored.

The Hurricanes traveled to Rhode Island last weekend for the North Kingstown Fathers Day Classic tournament and captured first place in the U-12 Division Championship. The games:

HURRICANES 3, JAMESTOWN (R.I.) 2: The âCanes jumped to an early led on goals by Kasey Schulz, Megan Hansen, and Tania Domingos, and held on for the win with defense lead by Haley Keane and Katie Serock.
HURRICANES 0, TIVERTON (R.I.) 0: Jen Brewer and Emily Weber in goal lead the defensive effort in this evenly played, hard fought game. Colleen Thornberg, Kelley Sullivan, and Cassie David had strong games also.
HURRICANES 4, SOUTH COUNTY (R.I.) 0: In the upset of the second day of play, the Hurricanes shocked the local favorites with a convincing win. Nora Lynn Shimko and Meghan Hansen scored early, and Tania Domingos and Adelle Cerreta both hit on spectacular long shots. Solid effort by Jenn Brewer in goal, and Genna Scheuerell, sealed the win.
HURRICANES 3, CONCORD (N.H.) 2: The strong Concord team that was undefeated and had scored 13 goals in its three wins was stunned as the Hurricanes jumped to a 2-0 half time lead on a penalty kick by Tania Domingos and a score on a great run by Casey Schulz. Concord tied the score in the second half, but the Hurricanes fought back with Megan Hansen getting the winning goal with an assist from Schulz. Sarah Shannon, Emily Weber, Molly Curry, and Brewer in goal keyed the defense.

The Storm took second place at the Cheshire Tournament last weekend after the rain washed out the championship game against Hamden.
The games:
STORM 5, NAUGATUCK 1: Max Barrett scored three goals and assisted on two others to lead the Storm. Jon Hartlett had a goal and an assist and Matt Norris had a goal. Jimmy Wilkins, Will Brooks, and Justin Carotti all played well.
HAMDEN 3, STORM 1: Max Barrett (thanks to a nifty pass by Jon Hartlett) scored the lone Newtown goal in a loss to Hamden. Eric MacKnight and Tyler Bigham put in solid efforts in the midfield to help the Storm dominate the second half.
STORM 6, CLINTON 0: Jimmy Wilkins scored a pair of goals while Max Barrett (a beautiful header off a Jon Hartlett corner kick), Justin Carotti, Billy McCann and Hartlett scored solo goals to lead the Storm to the win. Alex Naldini, Alex de Brantes and Matt Norris chipped in with assists. Stephen Marks earned the shutout.
