Pick A Favorite: Native Wildflowers Of The Northeast
REDDING â Our fondness for wildflowers often finds us failing to distinguish between those that are native and those that have been introduced. Highstead Arboretumâs celebration of native plants continues with âNative Wildflowers of the Northeast,â an exhibit of wildflowers native to the northeastern United States.
Twenty-seven pieces will be on display at Highstead Arboretum in the gallery of The Barn from May 1 through June 30, with an opening reception scheduled for Sunday, May 16, from 1 to 4 pm. Works range from silverpoint to more traditional scientific renderings in watercolor.
Exhibiting artist include Judy Aronow, Lili Bates, Monika de Vries Gohlke, Ann L. DuBois, Helka Gordon, Elana Goren-Totino, Eileen Hahn, Carol E. Hamilton, Catherine Hatinguais, Ann S. Hoffenberg, Joan Hutchison, Lauretta Jones, Corinne Lapin-Cohen, Elayne Leighton, Ruth Snell MacDonald, Kathie K. Miranda, Angela Mirro, Dick Rauh, Kathleen Rivera, Margaret Robinson, Jessie Salmon, Chris Sanders, Linda Segreto, Redenta Soprano, Louisa Rawle Tine, Helene Verglas, and Eleanor B. Wunderlich
Many of the artistsâ works are held in private collections, and have appeared in juried exhibits at the Horticultural Society of New York, The Hunt Institute, New York Botanical Garden, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and the Smithsonian Institute.
Many artists will be on hand during the reception on May 16 to discuss their artwork. Many pieces in this show will be available for purchase.
