‘The Conquerors’ Book Discussion

SOUTHBURY — A 2002 release by the historian Michael Beschloss on how Roosevelt and Truman went about deciding how to treat Germany after World War II will be the subject of a BookTalk program at Southbury Public Library on Monday, July 7. The book, The Conquerors: Roosevelt, Truman and The Destruction of Hitler’s Germany, 1941-1945, tells of Cabinet infighting over whether to reduce German to an agarian society to prevent World War III or to allow Germany to resume industrial activity to create a bulwark against Communism.
