Offers Free Drinks To Community
By Larissa Lytwyn
Emily Moller, a fourth grade student in Hawley School Junior Girl Scout Troop 593, had a âFree Drink Saleâ in connection with a community badge she was working on. She thought it might be a nice idea to offer free drinks at a makeshift stand in exchange for donations to nonprofit organizations in her community.
So, Emily offered lemonade, iced tea, Gatorade, and Hawaiian Punch to passersby June 8. She could nott believe how generous the people were. âOnce guy,â she said, âgave me $10 for some water for his dog!â In less than four hours, she and her sister Jillian, a second grade Brownie at Hawley, collected $65. They delivered it the following to the Salvation Army behind the Newtown Police Station.
