Portfolio

Midday on July 19, a man reported to police the loss of his brown leather portfolio. Police said the man last saw his portfolio on the trunk lid of his auto, while it was parked in the front parking area at Edmond Town Hall at 45 Main Street.

The portfolio may have fallen off the auto’s trunk lid anywhere as it later traveled between town hall and Taunton Lane, police said. Police ask anyone with information about the missing portfolio to contact them at 426-5841.

Currituck DUI

Police report that they stopped motorist Sandra Ballard, 42, of Danbury on northbound Currituck Road on the evening of July 18 because she had crossed over the road’s centerline.

Police said that after investigating, they charged Ballard with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, and failure to renew a vehicle registration.

After processing the arrest, police released Ballard on a $50 bond for an August 5 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Moving Violations

Police report they charged motorist Ingrid Bergquist, 41, of 134 South Main Street on July 18 with driving under suspension, driving without automotive insurance, and driving an unregistered vehicle. After processing the case, police released Bergquist on a written promise to appear August 5 in Danbury Superior Court.

Hawleyville Crash

State police report a two-car accident on westbound Interstate 84, about one-quarter mile west of Exit 9, about 4 pm July 20.

State police said motorist Daniel Piroscafo, 36, of Shelton, who was driving a 1995 Honda sedan in the left lane of two lanes, slowed suddenly in response to heavy traffic up ahead and was struck from behind by motorist Sharon Cohen, 30, of Pembroke Pines, Fla., who was driving a 1995 Mercedes-Benz sedan.

State police said Piroscafo complained of pain. State police said they warned Cohen for following too closely.

 

Sugar Lane

Police said motorist Andrew J. Lambo, 17, of 8 Country Squire Road told them he was making a curve while driving a 2000 Chrysler Town and Country minivan northward on Sugar Lane at about 11:15 pm July 18, when a deer ran out into the road. Lambo told police he veered to avoid the animal, but went off the road and struck a gate and post at 40 Sugar Lane. Neither Lambo, nor two passengers were injured, police said. Police issued Lambo a written warning for making a restricted turn.

Checks, Drugs Missing

Police report that a woman informed them about 10 am July 23 that while her vehicle was parked in the parking lot at Brooks Pharmacy at 7 Queen Street, someone entered it and stole some traveler’s checks and prescription medications from inside. Police are investigating and ask anyone with information about the thefts to contact them 426-5841.

Truck Vs Car

At about 10:30 am July 22, tractor-trailer truck driver Thomas White, 44, of Philadelphia, who was stopped at a red traffic signal on Mile Hill Road at its intersection with South Main Street, switched gears after the traffic signal turned green and rolled backward into a 2001 Subaru Outback driven by Ann Balzer, 56, of New Fairfield, police said. There were no injuries. Police warned White for unsafe backing and failure to carry a vehicle registration.
