Audubon Day Trip To Stratford

STRATFORD — Lillinonah Audubon Society, a chapter of National Audubon Society, is planning a trip to the coast on Saturday afternoon, September 6, to look for migrating shore birds at Milford Point and Great Meadows. The group will be led by Carolyn Longstreth, Lillinonah’s vice president and an expert birder, and will be on the lookout for flocks of sandpipers, piping plovers, and other shore birds that gather at the mud flats on the rising tide. Herons and egrets will abound and less common species such as black skimmers, American oyster-catchers, roseate terns, and American bitterns may be seen as well.

The group will meet to carpool at the Southbury commuter parking lot, near Exit 14 off I-84, at 2 pm.

Call Ms Longstreth at 264-9402 with any questions and to make a reservation.
