Former Sandy Hook resident John R. Tolster, 77, of Bradenton, Fla., died on April 12. Mr Tolster lived in Sandy Hook before moving to Bradenton in 1998.
Mr Tolster was born February 15, 1928, in Fairfield, a son of the late Patrick J. and Nellie Baum Tolster. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Marine Corps. Before retiring, he was a stonemason and bricklayer.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Egan Tolster of Bradenton; his children and their spouses, Robert of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Terrence and Cindy of New Bern, N.C., James of Danbury, John of Southbury, Ellen and Jay Anderson of Sarasota, Fla., and Patrick and Robin of Watertown; his grandchildren, Kelly, Meghan, Ryan, Taylor, Sean, and Kadie; his sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Kenneth Kost of Bridgeport; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, James, and two sisters, Anne (Peggy) Trojanowski and Evelyn Mester.
A memorial Mass to be held at a later date will be announced.
