NOFA Slates Nov. 5 Annual Meeting

New Haven — Cultivating an Organic Connecticut is the theme of the annual meeting of the Connecticut chapter of the Northeast Organic Farming Association (CT NOFA). The public is invited to shop at the farmers market, share the potluck lunch, and learn about the accomplishments of CT NOFA’s organic community.

This event will take place in Jones Auditorium at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station in on Saturday, November 5, from 10 am to 3:30 pm. Come for any or all of the events.

Celebrate Connecticut’s organic agriculture with one of the last farmers markets of the year. Stock up on potatoes, onions, garlic, squash, greens, apples, cider, eggs, maple syrup, wool, yarn and much more to enjoy throughout the coming New England winter.

Locally acclaimed guitarist Glenn Roth will play jazz. At noon there will be a potluck lunch; participant are asked to bring something to share and the recipe or a description. Foods do not have to be all organic or vegetarian; something from the farm or garden is always appreciated. Participants are also asked to bring their own plate, cup, and utensils to minimize paper and plastic waste; CT NOFA will provide beverages. At 1:30 pm there will be a half-hour annual meeting at which the organization will report on the year’s activities, elect officers and board members, and get input from members.

At 2 pm, participants will sit back and enjoy a visual tour of many of Connecticut’s organic farms, farmers markets, and NOFA events as Executive Coordinator Bill Duesing presents “Cultivating an Organic Connecticut: What CT NOFA and Its Members Are Doing.”

At 3 pm the CT NOFA Member of the Year Award will be presented.
