CT Archaeology Week Lecture
WASHINGTON â The Institute for American Indian Studies will present a lecture by Dr Lucianne Lavin on Sunday, October 17, at 2 pm.
The topic of Dr Lavinâs lecture, which is being presented in recognition of Connecticut Archaeology Week, is âThe Larson Site in New Milford.â The site is also the location of a new high school currently under construction in New Milford.
The lecture will present for the first time publicly the findings of Dr Lavinâs recent site excavation from the area of the new high school.
The evidence collected indicated a large multi-seasonal middle to terminal archaic village encampment site containing 4,500 artifactual surface finds, hundreds of features, lithic artifacts as well as faunal and floral remains, and 362 post molds. The site also represents the earliest evidence for Native American housing in western Connecticut
Dr Lavin is the Principal and Director of American Cultural Specialists, LLC, of Seymour and consulting archaeologist for the Institute for American Indian Studies.
